Volunteer Your Time to Help Blood Cancer Patients and Their Communities

I understand how majority of you feel reading this headline. Oh, yes, another good cause to fight for. I have a lot of things to do and other priorities. I have children, my job, my parents to take care of. I've got no time for this, but yes, a good idea, some day I will. You are wrong, no matter how you feel or what your mind tells you. Your consciousness will give you a straightforward answer. Just stop for 30 sec and think nothing, think again.

Having any type of cancer is a tough and long battle not only for the patient, but for the caregivers involved. If you have never experienced taking care of someone firsthand with a severe and chronic diagnosis, it may be hard for you to understand the time and effort necessary to preserve someone's life around the clock for months and years. You never know when you may be in such situation yourself whether as a primary or secondary caregiver or a patient him or herself. Even if you can spend an hour helping someone like a blood cancer patient in need, get to it! Your support will be so appreciated thousands times even if all you have got is an hour of your time a month. You can just send a postcard to someone or make a short phone call to cheer them up to keep up a good fight. It does not need to be any big thing and long-term commitment to take someone's burden off just for an hour. Your support can do miracles in making someone's life better or longer.

I cannot say thank you enough to my patients and friends who supported Hiro and me over this long battle. I am so grateful for all postcards, phone calls, dinners, hugs, thoughts, visits, prayers, candles, rides to the hospital, making a company in the emergency room, research articles, referrals and many more ....... .

No matter how you choose to get involved, you’ll be making an incredible impact in the lives of blood cancer patients. And, remember, there are patients with no families, no relatives, no parents, etc.....
